In Jdita used to reside a plant that symbolize a great dream. From father to son, Chdid family was accredited for many years to the dairy industry in Lebanon and accomplished a history in this field. At first, there was a milk collecting center that used to collect the milk from the Bekaa valley to distribute it to the factories in Beirut such as Formost and Karoun. This collecting center was established by Mr. Edward Chdid back in 1961 and it used to collect more than 15 tons of milk daily (80% of the Bekaa market that time) . At then, Mr. Iskandar the son was 9 years old and used to help his father in the night shift after finishing his school. The center included specialized fridges to cool the milk with a small laboratory that used to examine the raw milk with the basic requirements not to forget the trucks used to collect the milk from the farms and others to deliver it to the factories, of course after being analyzed and cooled.

Then, Mr. Iskandar expanded the production and started promoting Center Jdita's dairy products by opening a factory and distributing the dairy products in the Lebanese villages and towns. The factory was established in 1975 during the civil war in Jdita and it is specialized in dairy production and distribution. Due to the circumstances then, the cooled raw milk couldn’t reach the factories in Beirut and nothing could be done but to throw it away. This particular issue occurred for more than a week which raised the alert that something should be done soon. After a week, the idea of opening a factory and directly process the milk to its derivatives started, since the shelf life of the dairy products is longer than that of the raw milk. In 2013 the factory was relocated to a new plant in zahle which is set to the higher standards required for the dairy industry and now the factory is collecting about 30 tons of milk per day to be processed.
